Hôtel des Pins

We went for dinner once and wished we hadn't. The building and decor were lovely, but the 35 Euro three-course menu didn't come close to being worth the price to me. The starter sauce didn't seem homemade, and the same vegetable showed up across different dishes, simply halved and put in a bowl. My duck filet was okay, though the fries were soaked in its sauce. It felt like very little thought had gone into the menu. For dessert we had strawberries with sugar water, which isn't the French cuisine we know. The previous evening at Le Pinasse Café, we paid only 9 Euro more for much, much better food and service. Here, you can only order a whole bottle of wine, which was unusual for us. We don't recommend it.

The restaurant and breakfast were good, and the hotel's central position made it easy to walk to the bassin, ocean, and fisherman's village. The place has a certain charm, but at 95 to 135 euros, it feels like a 2star hotel. The room and bed were small, the shower room tiny and poorly laid out, and there was no clim, telly, or double glazing.

It's a very clean hotel, right in the center, with excellent staff. The feel is distinctly old school French, and I absolutely loved it.

Splendid meal. One of the most enjoyable I've had while travelling around France.
