The charcuterie is the part of Maison Duler I would gladly buy again. The hams, aged up to six years, are heavenly, as are the pates and confits. You can taste the care in them. I've seen reviews complaining about product quality. With artisan food, nature won't be perfect every time. Whether those complaints deserve one star depends on how Maison Duler responded. If they brushed people off, the reviews are fair; if they offered replacements, I think those reviews should be revised. The restaurant was a disaster for us, and I would avoid it. At 240EUR per person for a four-course dinner, I expected food served at its best. We could hear the dishwasher in the dining area, something you don't even hear at a McD. We had the truffle tasting menu. The foie gras with truffle, the first and least cooked course, was the best, though just good, not exceptional. The main was rotisserie chicken with potato truffle mash and tempura vegetables. Chicken breast with skin should have crisp skin, not soft, fatty skin. The mash was watery, tasteless and unseasoned, a mess no properly trained cook should serve. We came to the B&B and restaurant during a road trip through France after seeing Maison Duler on a TV broadcast about artisan producers making sausages, hams and other foods traditionally, without chemicals, preservatives, coloring or flavor enhancers. My wife and I wanted to see that for ourselves. We arrived at the very end of October, the rainy season in the Cahors region, and expected rain. We didn't expect nearly all the B&B amenities to be closed, apart from the estate's walking paths. It cost 340EUR a night and required a two-night booking, so 680EUR minimum. At that price, I expected everything to be operating, not a gate sign saying reception didn't open until 18:00 or an unheated pool. We called at 16:00, and the lady of the house was there and kindly let us check in. After that, we were on our own. We could use the honor bar, which had white or rose wine and some beers, but there was little else to do besides walk around the estate. That wasn't what I expected for the price. Breakfast, as others have mentioned, was an absurd 53EUR per person per night. We skipped it. That's what I'd pay for breakfast at a Ritz-Carlton, where I know I could get pretty much anything I wanted. To top it off, at 21:00 the night before we left, the lady of the house asked us to settle our bill because she wanted to sleep in the next day, a national holiday. Really? Would I order Maison Duler products to have them shipped home? Absolutely. Would I visit the estate again? Nope, never.

Excellent.

The food was exemplary, without a fault, and the location is ideal if you want peace and quiet. We had a wonderful overnight stay. I only wish we could have stayed longer, but we'll be back!

The bread-making class became much more than an activity. With flour on our hands, the smell of fermenting dough, and Patrick and Louis sharing their patience and passion, it reminded me how meaningful hospitality can be when people truly love what they do. At Maison Duler, the cooking has a quiet elegance. It feels generous and considered, refined without being pretentious. Each plate showed real care and passion rather than a performance. Some places feed you; others stay with you after you've left the table. Thank you to Pascale for hospitality, beauty and attention to detail that feel unmatched, and to Patrick, Camille and Louis for making our stay magical. We're already dreaming of coming back. We spent New Year's Eve at the estate, and it felt like a wonderful, relaxing place outside the rush of everyday life. The family made us feel very welcome and readily shared their knowledge. They clearly love and respect the nature around them. The meal was exceptional, prepared with real love and respect for the ingredients. Everything is done to bring out the quality of the food, both in the dishes and in the products available to buy on site. Thank you for your kindness and for sharing your home with us. We hope to return soon, maybe in spring to see the wildflowers!
