Hotel du Bourg

The staff made us feel very welcome, and they deserve 10 stars for their friendly service. We arrived during a very busy week, and they recommended and booked restaurants for us every day, saving us a lot of hassle. The hotel is right in the centre, close to the restaurants, with the main gondola about five minutes away. It has a small ski room, a reception area, and a cosy, popular bar with a fireplace. We used the sauna several times, though it has to be booked in advance. The rooms are modest but clean, and the bathrooms are a bit dated and on the small side. We had a very pleasant stay.

The proprietors were wonderfully friendly and helpful. I came for the Spartan race and finished later than planned, after checkout, but they understood and even let me take a shower. It's a classic, cosy inn with its own pub, right in the middle of things at Valmorel. The rooms are charmingly rustic and comfortable, and discounts on restaurants and ski rentals with your stay were a nice extra. A terrific stay close to everything.

Hotel du Bourg is perfectly placed on the main village road, just a couple of minutes' walk from restaurants, pubs, shops, and the Planchamp ski lift. The downside of being so centrally located is that you may hear noise at night. We loved the cosy hotel bar, with wine, beer, snacks, and cocktails, and used the sauna every day after skiing. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. We had a wonderful week and highly recommend it!

There’s a wonderful staff member there named Manon. I left a valuable item behind, and management couldn’t find it when I asked them to look. I came back to the hotel several days later, and Manon was at the front desk. She immediately knew where it was and handed it to me. I was utterly delighted to get it back after it had been missing for days. I’ll always be grateful to her and will send a thank-you in the post from the UK.
