Benvengudo

Returning here with my husband for our honeymoon, 15 years after staying as a child, made this a highlight of our trip. We stayed in a cottage, and the peaceful atmosphere, clean and lovely room, kind staff, and delicious dinner and dessert all made it special. The pastry chef was amazing, and we loved having breakfast by the pool. We explored nearby Les Baux, Saint Rémy, Fontvieille, Arles, and Gordes, then swam and had a limoncello spritz. Everyone working there seemed to know us and that we were on our honeymoon. I'd absolutely return and recommend it to friends.

The Mas de Provence has charm, but the management team was unfriendly and the service poor. Our room and the pool had heating problems, and the main road right beside the building was very noisy.

We had a lovely four-night stay in October. The hotel is in a beautiful spot and worked well as a central base for exploring the region by car. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Our large room opened onto its own little patio. It was too cool to use the pool, though it looked very nice.

The property is attractive and well maintained, though being so close to the road is a drawback. The bed was the worst I've ever slept in: the mattress was old, worn out, and sagging. They removed the topper after the first night, but it made no difference. I should have left then, but stayed for all three nights and had to see our orthopedist afterward. This is the first review I've written after many hotel stays around the world.
