Being in Les Baux after the daytime visitors had gone was deeply moving for me. I know I'll always treasure that memory. Le Price Noir is a truly unusual place, with an incredible view, a lovely room, a small kitchen, and an amazing balcony. Ute and Benoit were so caring and helpful, far beyond what we expected. Since we had to leave very early, they even prepared breakfast for us to take, though we did break their French Press! This was the highlight of our whole trip to France, and I loved every minute. If you enjoy history and places with real character, you'll treasure staying here too.

Ute and Benoit are lovely hosts, happy to chat and offer advice or help. Breakfast was a generous continental spread with yoghurt, bread and pastries, fruit, coffee, and juice. We also found a local restaurant just a pleasant three minute walk away. Our room, La Dame a la Licorne, had a comfortable amount of space, a queen bed, period-appropriate furnishings, and lovely views over the village rooftops. The bathroom was roomy and cleverly designed for its compact footprint, with excellent shower pressure. It only had liquid soap in a pump dispenser. There was air conditioning and heating, though we didn't need either in the temperate weather and enjoyed having the windows open. There's no lift, so the stairs may be difficult for some guests, but the hosts help with luggage. The hotel is in the hill-top village of Les Baux de Provence. Parking instructions and a permit arrive by email once your reservation is accepted. Print the permit and leave it on your dashboard. You can drive into the village from 7pm to 10am, though the narrow streets may be tricky. At other times, you'll need to carry your bags over the cobblestones to get to the hotel. It's a charming, distinctive place for an overnight stay. We enjoyed it thoroughly and would gladly return.

The terrace looks out over the village and castle, and the whole place feels romantic and unusual. We stayed near the top of the mountain, among the ruins of an ancient castle. The hosts were very kind, breakfast was excellent, and the bed was comfortable. The shower had narrow castle windows. I definitely recommend visiting.

We'd still recommend it for a short stay. The hosts were very welcoming and shared useful information for the rest of our trip, and breakfast was generous. The location is ideal. A couple of things weren't to our taste: the bathroom and toilet layout means you have to walk across wet planks to get to the toilet, and the decor is a little kitschy.

A lovely room and delicious breakfast in an excellent spot right in the heart of the village, near Carrières de Lumières. Parking is included. What more could you ask for? Go for it!
