Chalet Alice Velut

A gorgeous, extremely comfortable chalet and such a lovely stay. The location is excellent, very close to the ski lift, bakery, and supermarket.

We’ve returned to “Alice Velut” four times over the last six years, and it’s always spotless and well equipped when we arrive. It suits us well: the supermarket and butcher are two minutes away, there’s a bar nearby, and the ski lift is a very short walk. They also supply firewood for free.

St Martin itself is a beautiful village and a handy base for exploring the 3 valleys on skis. We were a family of three staying in this cosy, well-equipped two-bedroom apartment during half term, and it was very comfortable. The kitchen had quality appliances, including a Nespresso machine, and there was a lovely fire in the lounge. It’s right in the village centre near the church, less than a minute from the drag lift. That takes you up the hill to the main gondola, with access to the whole 3 valleys. The supermarket, several restaurants, local bar, ski hire, and other shops are all close by. Nadine and Jess at Self Catered-St Martin were a breeze to deal with. I’d certainly recommend the village, and this apartment and the people at St Martin-Self Catered for groups of two, three, or four.

We booked Chalet Violette for our family of five, and it was just right: very clean, well equipped, and furnished to a good standard. Richie, Nadine, and Jess were helpful and attentive from our first enquiry right through to departure, making the whole stay easy and enjoyable. The building has a small number of individual chalets in central St Martin de Belleville, close to local amenities and only a short walk from the button lift connecting to the main gondola. This was our second year booking with the company after a great experience the previous year, and we’re now booking with them again for 2019.
