Kyriad Prestige Bordeaux Ouest Mérignac

We’ve been coming back for 10 years, and it really feels like home. The staff and everything about the place are easy to love. It’s cozy, we always have a blast, and the food is next level every time.

The spider and big web on the luggage rack pretty much summed up our stay. I wouldn’t call this a hotel, more like a motel with a restaurant that happened to be closed when we wanted to eat there. By those standards it was okay: the staff were cordial, if not especially knowledgeable, and breakfast was fine. The worst part was the construction. The other wing wasn’t torn up or dusty, but they put us in the area where we had to walk through the mess twice every time we left the room. I had quite a bit of allergic trouble, presumably because of that. Outside, most of the umbrellas or awnings seemed broken, so there was little shade. The fitness area was abysmal, and the play area outside was run-down. Putting “4 star hotel” on the wall doesn’t make it one.

The few staff members there do their best, but the hotel is plainly set up to be understaffed all the time. It’s overrated and, by any standard, not a 4 star hotel.

We came back after eight years and the restaurant food was still fantastic. The restaurant manager, the same one as before, seemed happy at work, and Stephane really makes the place what it is. You can tell food preparation and service are treated as careers people can take pride in, and it shows in the staff. It’s also great for the tram, and a nice place for a pool day without the Costa del crazy. The staff are friendly and all speak English, and they’re still forgiving of my schoolboy French. I love it here.
