Lauzes

I keep coming back to this building every year. Its age shows, especially in the dated shared spaces, though those are due to be renovated. The apartments vary a lot: some have been fully updated and are lovely, even if the building itself is in rougher shape. I rent one here because it costs much less than a place right on the slopes, and for me it works perfectly. Get in touch if you want the details for the apartment I use, since they aren't all alike. The location is handy without putting you amid the Croisette's bustle. Shops and restaurants are close, but you avoid their nighttime noise, the snow groomers, and much of the daytime racket. There's also a big free parking lot right by the entrance. In the morning you can ski straight to the area where the ESF ski school meets, then return in the evening on a marked trail.

Getting back from the slopes is easy, and the residence is well placed for reaching them. With too little snow, though, you'll need to take your skis off before you get to the pistes. I've stayed in both E21 and E12. They were welcoming apartments, and I'd recommend them, although E12 was a little smaller.

The duplex apartments have a nice layout, and the amenities are decent for what you pay. The building itself is getting old, and it really doesn't work for people with limited mobility. You have to go up two flights of stairs just to get to the first elevator.

There was no Wi-Fi, and sounds carried too easily through the apartment. Cooking smells also drifted through the shared areas, and there aren't any shops in the building. Still, I stayed warm, and the west-facing balcony had a mountain view. You can ski in and out when the snow allows, with lockers on the ground floor.
