The chateau sits among quiet forests and countryside, with major historic towns and chateaus nearby. The hosts are two very nice people, and there’s a swimming pool too. Bring your family or friends, relax and enjoy.

We’ve stayed here twice in a family room with our dog, breaking up the long drive home from the South of France. The hosts are lovely, the pool is great, and breakfast is delicious. We liked starting the day chatting with the other guests around the table. When we left my daughter’s swimming costume behind, they posted it back to us in the UK. It’s the most elegant B&B experience, and we’ll be back!

The room was spacious, and breakfast each morning was generous. The owners gave us a really warm welcome during our wonderful night at Château des Essards. We’d love to return in warmer weather to enjoy the pool, jacuzzi, and gardens. We highly recommend this bed and breakfast!

The grounds are incredible, and the whole house feels spacious and immaculate. We were welcomed so warmly that we felt at home, as if the host had been expecting us. She’s a lovely person inside and out, and you can tell how much she cares about hospitality. There are books and magazines all around, and everything is set up to make guests comfortable. Our room was tastefully decorated like the rest of the house, with room for luggage and armchairs to sit in. It had everything we needed, including comfortable bedding, and the bathroom was fully equipped. Even the toilet paper was high quality. The breakfast table was magnificent, with everything we could have wished for and more. The host’s care really shows. It’s an ideal place.

The host and hostess were exceptionally hospitable, and breakfast was very well prepared. The castle is beautiful and well maintained in a quiet setting. It’s also a great base for visiting the region around Saumur.
