Lagrange Vacances L'Alpenrose

The location was handy, about a five-minute walk to the pisted and 5-10 minutes to the main intermarche. We were four people staying for a week, and early check-in was available, which helped after our early flights. The reception ladies were lovely when they were around, despite their limited English. My main frustration was how little seemed to be maintained. The ski locker floors were never cleaned, and there was almost always nobody at reception when we needed help. I understand keeping staffing low to cut costs, but at these prices the service felt far too limited. The sauna, advertised as a feature, was out of order throughout our stay. No alternative was offered, such as vouchers for another sauna in the resort, even though it was one of the reasons we booked. The downstairs coffee machine also stopped working for a day, with nobody available to fix it. We tried the morning bread service too. They got the order wrong, and the bread was cold and not fresh, which wasn't what we expected. To their credit, we weren't charged for it, though that was because the receptionist forgot. We were also asked for a deposit at check-in. I had forgotten my credit card and used a debit card instead. I was told it would only be pre-authorized, but the full amount was taken from my account. That's not a huge issue by itself. At checkout, we were promised an email about any charges and cancellation of the pre-authorization. I waited two weeks for the refund, then emailed to ask and only got it moving then. I shouldn't have had to chase it. For what this place charges, the stay management was very poor. I don't think it's unreasonable at this price to expect at least one person on site all the time, perhaps a receptionist and a cleaner or janitor. There's clearly a lot of money being made here. If you're prepared to accept these fairly minor issues, the location is convenient, but for me it was far too expensive for what was provided.
