Hotel La Fontaine

A real hidden gem by the entrance to Les Houches. The hall and restaurant have a beautiful retro style, the rooms are cozy, and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The view of Monblan is beautiful too.

We had a comfortable, great stay, even though it was a quick one. The view is right in front of the hotel, and the simple breakfast buffet was delicious, with warm food, coffee, and juice. There’s also an ATM / money withdrawal machine in the hotel. The only thing missing was air conditioning, but we understood since it’s in the mountains and known as a ski hotel. We were clumsy on the day we drove from Chamonix to Switzerland and forgot some things. The hotel staff were super accommodating through booking.com and mailed our belongings to Denmark. We’re really grateful and amazed by that gesture. They were understanding and trustworthy, and deserve our best review. We highly recommend this hotel!

What a nightmare. I booked through hotel.com and said I needed a pet-friendly hotel. When I arrived to check in, I was immediately escorted out because they don’t accept dogs. Fine, but Chrystelle didn’t even get my name for the cancellation. I rebooked somewhere pet friendly, then, just as I was trying to unwind, she called at 21h and said I hadn’t cancelled and had caused a loss of sales. I had cancelled through the platform as soon as I was turned away. The next morning, while I was trying to get my refund through hotel.com, Chrystelle demanded that I call and apologise. For what, being rudely kicked out and harassed by her calls that same night? I can live without the refund, but this woman should run a dungeon where she can get paid to insult and yell at people. Mistress Chrystelle. Guaranteed humiliation for anyone with those kinks!

We had a good stay. The bed was comfy, the cabin-like feel was lovely, and the window looked out on a really beautiful view. We had some trouble getting enough towels and hand soap, and had to ask several times before it was sorted. We tried the restaurant too, but were told they needed more time to get ready, which seemed odd. The indoor pool and sauna were our favorites, and breakfast was pretty good.
