Hôtel Restaurant L'Ermitage

The setting is ideal and fairly well separated from the campsites. Staff were available and very helpful. The room had almost no furniture, just a small desk, and nowhere to store things. There was no mini fridge, perhaps to encourage guests to eat at the restaurant, though they did let us keep our food in their fridge, which didn’t make much sense to me. The floor wasn’t very clean when we arrived, and there were stains in the room and on the balcony. The spa entry alone was €19, and breakfast was €16 per person per day, both overpriced. There was no bathroom dryer, and the natural ventilation didn’t seem to work. The shower door wouldn’t close, so the bathroom flooded every time we showered. In general, it’s not a good place to stay for more than half a week.

The location is great, but the service was extremely bad. We started in a basic, old room with a lovely view over a field and the horses across the road. When we found the shower drain was broken, they moved us to a ground-floor room facing the road, parking lot, and building entrance, room 41. People were constantly coming and going, so we had no privacy and had to keep the curtains closed. There was even an ashtray full of cigarette butts left on the 'balcony'. No apology, discount, or anything. The internet was so poor it was basically unusable. The outdoor pool shown in the pictures and brochures was closed, with a sign saying it was for 'your visual pleasure'. The indoor pool is available for a fee. The website gave us the impression the hotel was falsely advertised, since our bathroom wasn’t as nice as the one in the pictures. The photos may not reflect what you get. In reply to the establishment: we didn’t break the bathtub mechanism. We closed it, and it never opened again, not even for you. We stayed the second night because we’d planned the holiday and booked two nights. We never asked for a discount, and even ate dinner at your hotel twice without asking for anything. We only wanted to show that nobody on your side acknowledged what had happened. Finding another room was the least you could do, and even that wasn’t handled cheerfully. You made us feel very uncomfortable. This was our experience, and you can’t dispute that. The pictures speak for themselves, and your response says a lot.

I really liked the hotel and would stay again. It’s lovely being out in the middle of nowhere, but a 15-minute walk gets you to the village and the lake. It’s about a 40-minute walk to the bridge where you can rent pedal boats. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the beds comfortable. The outdoor pool was closed on beautiful days around 25 degrees, and the hotel hadn’t even sent a message to let us know. The most irritating part was that they didn’t offer access to the indoor pool instead. You have to pay to use that pool.

Our room looked like it had just been redecorated, and the air conditioning worked really well. The staff were friendly, breakfast was a great buffet, and the hotel was really nice for the price.
