I’d read some negative reviews, so I came prepared, but the hotel met my modest expectations for a short stay. Check-in was efficient, and the owner was helpful and cordial. He speaks some Thai. My room, number 19 on the ground floor, was small but clean and functional, with a little balcony. The air conditioning worked perfectly and was quiet. Breakfast was simple but good, and I could ask for more coffee. It’s an easy walk downhill on the paved road to the beach, about 10 minutes at a slow pace. If you’re up for it, you can walk back uphill on the dirt track beside the paved route. There’s a large open square next to the hotel and adequate parking. There’s also a market on Thursday mornings.

Bars and restaurants are right outside the hotel, and the lake is only a few minutes away. The lake view rooms look out over the water, and there’s plenty of free parking. The room is very basic, but it does the job for a night or two.

The night sky is beautiful and makes the place feel really romantic. The hotel’s also in a great spot for visiting Verdon Gorge, Pont du Galetas, the Valensole plateau and its lavender fields, or doing water activities at the lake. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and you can choose to have breakfast at the hotel.

There’s a large square right outside, with a lovely view over the lake, and pedestrians can get down to the water. The rooms have a kitchen, but bring your own equipment. Breakfast comes with one coffee only, with no refill, so keep that in mind.

We stayed five nights, so we got to use the kitchen. The room was basic but spotless, and the balcony had a beautiful view. The staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a great base for exploring, and we’ll definitely be back next year.
