Hotel Chevallier

I booked two weeks ahead for my mother’s trip and got written confirmation by message. There was also a €200 hold on my card, so I thought everything was secured. Then the hotel canceled just one day before arrival, claiming the full payment hadn’t been secured, which wasn’t true. When I called, they denied there had been a payment hold and offered no help, just told me to check availability again. It was very distressing after we’d confirmed everything by email, and left an older person without accommodation. Better to avoid.

The room smelled awful and the place wasn’t up to standard for hygiene. The person who was supposedly the owner or manager came across as very passive aggressive. They need to learn basic customer service, including how to speak to customers when there’s a problem. Typical French arrogance. I would not recommend it.

Nour at reception was especially helpful and respectful. I booked at the last minute, and he explained everything over the phone and helped me out. The room was a bit small but clean, had heaters and everything needed for a short stay. The place is close to the city and bakeries, and I really liked it. I found it a little odd that breakfast cost extra, since I’m used to it being included. Otherwise, I’d definitely recommend it.

The owner was incredibly nice and even made sure my Bolt ride was safe. The staff were very friendly. Still, I should have been more careful when booking, even for a quick Paris stay. I paid extra for a single room with a private bathroom, but there was no toilet in my room, so I don’t know what they meant by that listing. The room looked clean and the sheets were clean, but there was a bad smell for some reason. The covers had holes that looked like cigarette burns, and the pillow was uncomfortable.
