La Reposée Hôtel Restaurant Spa

A higher-end hotel for a reasonable price.

The people we met there are what stayed with us. Our holiday went badly wrong last August when our van broke down on the motorway, just hours into a two-week trip. With three young kids upset, we needed somewhere nearby to stay while looking for help with the van. This hotel turned out to be a real blessing. The receptionist was especially helpful, translating for us and offering suggestions each day, and the rest of the staff were incredibly kind too. It wasn't the holiday we'd planned, but we'll always be grateful for the compassion and kindness strangers showed us as we tried to get back on our way.

The whole thing felt strange. There was nobody in the bar, no restaurant, and no food available to order. When we arrived, we were pretty much left to figure everything out ourselves, with no real help or information, not even the checkout time.

The relaxed atmosphere and lovely green surroundings made for a very nice setting, and the renovation has been done with real taste. We had dinner there one evening with our three children. The kids' menu was chicken or fish with mashed potatoes, and instead of starters we chose appetizer platters, which worked better for them. The peach was very good, with enough sauce to let the flavors come through, though it could have used a little something extra. We also enjoyed the vanilla crunch and carrot cake desserts. For sharing the appetizers, small plates would have been helpful. Good value for money in a beautiful spot.
