Château de la Ligne

We’ve celebrated both our wedding and our anniversary at Chateau de La Ligne, and each time the setting has felt enchanting. The hosts are generous, and the property is comfortable, charming, and well cared for, with what friends and family need to feel welcome. French wine enthusiasts and fans of 18th-century style will find plenty to enjoy. Elodie and Jonathan were attentive throughout and went out of their way to make our event memorable. I stayed in one of the guest suites while attending a friend's wedding in September, and the Château De La Ligne also hosted the celebration afterward. The room was quiet and comfortable, with a kitchenette and basic dishes, plus a washer and dryer. The bathroom seemed recently renovated. Check-in was straightforward, the Wi-Fi was quick to connect and worked well, and the pool was open to guests during my stay. The wedding events and reception appeared to run smoothly. The management interactions I saw were respectful, and the reception was allowed to continue until 4 am. The Château has particular rules about guests celebrating outdoors after a certain time, though I didn't see anyone behaving badly. I had a pleasant stay overall.

The gardens and pool at La Ligne give the chateau a lovely, almost 19th-century VIP feel, and the building itself is beautiful. Gwyneth and Claude were so welcoming when we visited in January 2023 while looking at wedding venues. We chose another place because it has more accommodation on site for our many guests, but I’d happily recommend La Ligne. I only wish we hadn’t brought cabin baggage, since that meant we couldn’t accept Claude’s offer of a bottle of wine from the La Ligne vineyard.

The venue hasn't changed, but after being invited to a wedding here for the second time, the experience felt like it had gone from 100 to 0. The new manager and his wife were nasty to us and even worse to the bride and groom. They cut the power during dinner and the speeches, called the police at 6pm over supposedly loud music while dinner was still happening, and added costs we weren't meant to pay. We stayed for a few days and were worried about what might happen next. I won't return, and I wouldn't recommend anyone else go either.
