La Closerie du Clos de Ligré

The room in the converted cider press was wonderfully original, and the pool was perfect. The setting is superb, communication before our stay was exemplary, and the welcome was top-notch. Breakfast under the majestic linden tree in the central square was a treat. Even the car park is in a converted barn, sheltered from summer sun and winter rain. We had a wonderful time. Martine is lovely and gave excellent advice. With five rooms, a gîte, and a studio, there's plenty of choice. The stay was truly high-quality and very reasonably priced for the amenities. Well done, Martine!

Martine's generosity made our stay even more magical. The setting was absolutely charming and picturesque, and being close to Chinon was a real pleasure. We had an excellent stay, thank you!

We stayed one night as a Touraine stopover on our way home, and plan to return with great pleasure. Martine had prepared dinner with fresh vegetables from the market: asparagus with a delicious vinaigrette, braised beef with baby vegetables, and the first strawberries of the season for dessert. We had red and rosé wine from the neighboring estate. Personally, I wish we'd had an aperitif 😜, didn't I, Martine? You know why, after our day in L'Île-Bouchard. Thanks again, Martine. 👍👋

Martine gave us excellent tips on the castles and other places to see around the region, and was very welcoming. Clos de Ligré is a magnificent, completely peaceful place, just a 10-minute drive from Chinon. Between outings, we enjoyed the sun by the pool and the shade in the gardens. We also had two wonderful dinners at her table d'hôtes. An excellent stay, and I highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting the Loire Valley castles.
