Continental

I chose this place for a few workdays in Lille instead of Ibis, even though the price was about the same, and I really regret it. I’d trusted the Booking photos, but the actual room was completely different from what they showed. The building was old and dirty, smelled awful, and everything felt disgusting. Even simple things like the hairdryer didn’t work. Every night I felt bad about sleeping there, and on my last day I spotted a bedbug in the bathroom. What a nightmare. I wouldn’t recommend it at all. For the same price, you can find much better options in Lille.

It’s a decent little hotel in a central spot, with no noise from the local train station. The room was a good size, but check in advance that a double booking won’t leave you with twin beds. Noise carries from other rooms, and the nightly plumbing sounds had us wondering what the guest was up to. The breakfast room is nice but small, with limited choice that could be improved. It’s not a bad place, but if a restful night matters, I’d spend a few bob more for better sleep.

I was nervous after reading the negative reviews, but I don’t regret staying here at all. The location is unbeatable, the staff are friendly, and the room has all the necessities. Three of us stayed together and we all had a great time. Sure, it can be a little noisy, but that’s common in European city centres, and the hotel is a bit old. For this price, though, what do people expect? Some of the bad reviews about the space or condition seem obnoxious or spoiled. If you’re on a budget and want a great location, book here.

The location is good, but the rooms are very noisy, with no sound insulation between them. If you need proper sleep or are travelling for business, I’d look at other hotels. This felt more like a youth hostel. Breakfast could use more choice and better quality products. On the plus side, the small bedding was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. In response to the hotel, a group of young people had booked the entire first floor and partied in their room until 2am.
