Hotel Saint Maurice

We had a quiet night after asking for a room facing away from the church, despite having seen some complaints about noise. The bed was comfortable, and our room had been warmed up before we arrived. Rooms are small but clean, and the staff were kind and welcoming. I did miss a kettle, spoons, and a few basic things. A solid place, and I'd recommend it.

We slept really well, even though the hotel was a bit noisy during the day. You could hear other guests, people in the courtyard, and the usual sounds of an older building, like running water. The St Maurice is handy for the squares of Vieux Lille and Lille Europe and Flandres Stations. Our comfort double looked onto the courtyard and had a comfortable bed with charming art deco details. The staff knew the area and were accommodating, storing our luggage on the ground floor both before check-in and after check-out. We skipped breakfast because there’s a boulangerie on the corner and plenty of cafes a short walk away. I’d stay here again.

The shower pressure was super strong, and the room was clean. It was small, but we knew that when we booked. The neighborhood was quiet at night, and we slept with the window open. It’s close to the Gare and the main places for shopping and eating, so we’d stay again.

If you like traditional French city hotels, you’ll probably enjoy this one. It’s full of original touches, including a lovely wood-clad elevator for two people. The rooms are small but good quality, and the beds are very comfortable.
