Novotel Lille Centre Grand Place

We were on our first holiday as a family with our one-year-old, and the staff were really helpful. They had a cot ready for us even though we hadn't asked, which made things more comfortable. The location was right in the middle of everything, so we were never far from anywhere. We didn't eat there, so I can't comment on the food. I'd stay here again if we came back to Lille.

The location is fantastic, with lots of landmarks and great places to eat within a 10-minute walk. Breakfast had a very good selection and I'd recommend it. I had a pleasant stay and the staff were great. My only issue was the uneven pricing during the week: one day cost twice as much as the others, which I didn't expect and made my expense report awkward. The total was still reasonable for the area. I'd stay again, but I'd pay closer attention to the dates.

The hotel worked really well as a base for exploring the city with our very young family, aged 1 and 4. The location is fab, in a quiet area and less than five minutes from the main square, even at mini-leg walking speed. The room was set up for the kids before we arrived, and had all the facilities we needed. The only downside was finding food before 7pm. I know that's a France-wide thing, but some simple early meals at the hotel, like chicken nuggets and chips or pizza, would've been great with the kids going to bed. Still, it was a really great stay, and I thoroughly recommend it to families with young children looking for a base to explore a cracking city.

The restaurant food was good, though the service could have been better, and breakfast was decent too. Some staff came across as cold, while the manager was arrogant with guests. The place feels more like Ibis budget service, where you’d pay less, and it doesn’t make you want to linger. I just wanted to get out and enjoy the city. For me, it doesn’t deserve four stars.
