ibis Lyon Villefranche sur Saone

Fine for a stopover. The rooms are tiny, almost claustrophobic, and the beds aren't great because the thin top mattress folds up when you lie on it. For a hotel this large, having just one elevator that fits two people is ridiculous.

The attached restaurant was packed, but we decided to eat there anyway and really enjoyed the food and service. We'd definitely return. The staff were among the friendliest at any IBIS we've stayed at, and very accommodating when I found that the plug sockets in my room weren't working. They gave me an extension lead so I could use an extra socket. The room was clean and quiet despite being just off the motorway, with good hot water, adequate toiletries, and a water bottle refill station. The hotel is very close to the motorway, and the gated parking is shut at night, so it felt secure. There are supermarkets just minutes away if you need groceries before heading up the mountain, and a croissant shop within walking distance for a quick stop before the drive. We stayed just after Christmas on our way to a ski destination. The only drawback was the single lift, so it's worth limiting the luggage you carry in and out of the car.

The location was ideal, just minutes from the motorway, and the rooms were very comfortable. Staff were friendly and efficient, and we really enjoyed our evening meals on both stays. We were two couples spending a night here before and after our ski holiday. Thank you!

We found the Ibis Hotel in Villefranche-sur-Saône clean and well maintained, with the basic comforts at a reasonable price. It's not a luxury hotel, but it works well for a road trip stop or a business stay. Even though it's right by the highway, we didn't hear any traffic and had a peaceful rest. The location makes getting on and off the autoroute easy, without a long detour. Staff from reception to the restaurant were warm, welcoming, and quick to help, which made the stay more comfortable.
