Misterbed Lille Lomme

There was shouting in the corridor on the floor the morning we left, adding to an already noisy stay where it was impossible to rest. Our bedsheets were dirty, and the room keys didn’t work properly, which made things even more frustrating. I stayed at Mr Bet Hotel from December 25 to December 27, and the experience was very disappointing. It didn’t meet basic standards, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for cleanliness, peace, or an easy stay.

I’m usually an experienced traveller in third-world countries, pretty tolerant and easy-going, and I don’t normally write reviews. But after staying here on 20 August 2024, I had to say something. I was bitten multiple times by bed bugs; the bites were repulsive and itched for days, and to me they showed a lack of hygiene at the hotel. I was booked to return a week later but cancelled because I didn’t want to be bitten again. I contacted the hotel directly and through Agoda, the booking agent, but got no acknowledgement or reply, and no refund for the cancelled room. I also tried posting this review on Agoda’s website. After several weeks of being fobbed off, Agoda said it couldn’t publish it because it didn’t comply with its review guidelines. Disappointing, but who are Agoda’s customers? Stay at your own risk. It’s cheap for an unpleasant reason.

It’s cheap, with friendly and helpful staff, easy parking, free breakfast and a location that’s not too bad, near a large retail estate. But the rooms are small and poorly equipped, and the bathroom is so tiny you have to move carefully around the toilet, sink and shower. The shower also overflows. Some kind of airlock makes a loud groaning noise almost every 30 minutes, day and night. Tobacco and bleach smells are strong throughout the building. Breakfast is croissants, French stick, cereal and maybe a yoghurt, with orange juice and coffee. There are no plates, so you have to eat from a plastic tray. If you just need a base, it may be okay, but I wouldn’t recommend it. The hotel needs a major overhaul to meet standard.

Breakfast was the unexpected bright spot, much better than I’d expected, with baguettes and croissants that were properly fresh. The price is good, but the room is so small that I wouldn’t want to stay more than one night.
