Camping Le Petit Rocher

We came back for May half term in 2025 after staying here in 2024, and this time brought the rest of the family because we loved it so much. The log cabin was great and the location is ideal. There’s loads to do nearby, with a quiet, beautiful beach five minutes away on foot and market towns and good restaurants within a 15-minute drive. The kids enjoyed the pool, slides, park and entertainment, and the bar is handy for drinks and easy dinners like pizza and chips. Service was brilliant, everyone was friendly and helpful. Can’t rate it highly enough.

We had pitch 118, which was mostly shaded, though there are sunnier pitches if that’s what you want. There’s room for one car per pitch, and plenty of free parking on the roads outside. The nearby boulangerie has excellent fresh produce, and the beach gets decent surf. It’s a nice campsite with good facilities and lots for kids. One downside was noisy neighbours in the chalet opposite us overnight. Apparently staff are usually quite good at dealing with that. The swimming pool has a perspex roof, so there’s less UV than in an open-air pool.

The restaurant was good, with pizza, hamburgers and salads, and everything we tried was tasty and quick. We stayed in the newer comfort lodges among the trees, and they’re much more spaced out, so it felt relaxed and quiet. The older lodges are packed closer together, with some near the roads or the swimming pool pumps. Booking one of the new lodges makes for a really nice stay.

The bar and snack area were lovely, and the staff there were friendly. We stayed eight nights and liked the well-equipped site, pool and slides, but there weren’t enough donuts for the slides. If people held onto them, you couldn’t use one. I also never saw a lifeguard around the pool. The management’s checkout instructions annoyed us: we always leave our accommodation clean, but being told to sweep and mop under the beds and defrost the fridge made us angry. There was also a price list for supplied items, with missing things charged to your credit card. They say you must report anything missing within 24 hours or they’ll assume you took it. We didn’t see the notice until later, when we found the vacuum cleaner and electric grill were missing. We messaged after the 24 hours, and they replied that they’d noted it and were sorry we weren’t happy. The whole process felt intimidating, which isn’t how we want to feel on holiday.
