BRIT HOTEL LORIENT Le Kerotel

There’s no lift, which makes getting suitcases upstairs a hassle, and the rooms are cramped. Still, it works for a one-night stop. The location is great, with several shops nearby and a bakery selling amazing pastries, sandwiches, and sweet treats.

The hotel looks a little dated, but the service and bedding are excellent, and it’s good value for money. There’s a gym, billiards, and a bar, all convenient and friendly. Breakfast and dinner were very good and reasonably priced. The welcome was excellent too. Ask for a quiet room if you’re sensitive to noise, since the hotel is in a commercial area.

The reception staff were excellent, but my stay in ground-floor room 12 left me thinking the hotel’s rating needs reassessing. I’m used to British hotels, and this place is aging. There’s no air conditioning, so I’d avoid it in summer. Opening the window isn’t much of an option with the heavy traffic, and the windows and doors don’t block sound well. Even the breakfast bread was stale.

The breakfast buffet was good, and the welcome there was very warm. Like others have said, though, the ground floor gets very hot and there’s no air conditioning. The rooms could use a refresh, including new paint.
