Victor Hugo

They don’t have every resource for a full service, and things like arriving late and needing to park aren’t always seamless. Still, they’ll even come over from home to help you out. The family running this cozy, quaint hotel are lovely, and the decor and personal contact make for a nice atmosphere. It’s a bit informal, but their service attitude and kind behavior more than make up for the process. I’ll come back despite it all.

The room was a little small, but had what I needed, and reception were friendly and accommodating. It’s a budget version of the nearby Le Patio hôtel, and a great option for a short stay. The hotel is on a quiet street, very close to town.

The room setup was handy, with two rooms side by side and a door between them, but that door wouldn’t shut properly unless slammed. The hotel was noisy too. We could hear toilets flushing, doors banging, and even more intimate sounds from upstairs. Our bathroom had lots of mold, and shower water wouldn’t drain. The rooms were otherwise clean and decent, and the location near the city center was good. Breakfast tasted good, though the small area got crowded. We only know basic French, and Booking.com listed English-speaking staff, which mattered to us when choosing the hotel. We didn’t expect fluent English, but the girl at check-in barely spoke any, so we struggled to get answers and had to work out the parking rules ourselves. The girl at checkout was really nice and did speak English.

Good breakfast, and the reception was very nice. They even speak English, which is rare in France.
