Lou Cantou

The restaurant is the real highlight at Le Cantou 354. Christophe and Romain are wonderful hosts, the food is heavenly, and the wine list is pretty good too. The decor is a little eccentric, but it works, and there's a real sense of occasion, especially from the corner table at sunset. They let our dogs come in without any fuss, which isn't always the case in France. As a dog owner, I also appreciated that the owner manager has a dog, the lovely Scarlett, and understands the appeal of a ground-floor room with garden access. Ours was right by the garden. It wasn't luxurious, but it had everything we needed, including a decent-sized, well-equipped bathroom. The hotel is tucked into a beautiful hilltop village and doesn't really advertise its name, so you have to look for it. Breakfast is self-service, with a good selection of the usual tasty French fare. Every staff member we met was happy, helpful and polite.

The food at Le Table 354 was high class, and the service felt very welcoming. We had a fantastic meal and a great stay at the hotel. Definitely worth seeking out if you're looking for top-notch food in Loubressac.

The breakfast was the best I had anywhere during my two weeks in France. So much of it was homemade, including walnut cake, plum pudding, brioche, multigrain bread and plenty more. The restaurant food was amazing too. The owners and staff at Hotel Le Cantou 354 were outstanding, friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. I'd highly recommend both the hotel and a visit to the restaurant.

We went with our children and chose just a main course, ice cream and cheese. The host clearly wasn't pleased with that. After making us wait an hour for the food, we got small portions of mediocre quality. The local beef tournedos wasn't tender, and the fish was overcooked. The host also felt it necessary to insult us during dinner. The prices don't match the food's mediocre quality, and with such a rude host, I wouldn't recommend eating here.
