Hôtel Atrium Mondial

Michael welcomed us and gave us a lovely start to our stay. We had dinner at the hotel on our first evening, and it was tasty and well priced. My elderly mother was also able to use the hotel wheelchair, which we really appreciated. The rooms were clean and tidy, with heating and cooling, and the location was perfect. We’d have liked tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a wider choice of breakfast cereals, but we had a great stay and would highly recommend the hotel. Thank you.

The room was small and basic, but acceptably clean. The shower was the main drawback since it wouldn’t stay attached to the wall. Breakfast was simple but fine, and there’s a nice shared breakfast area. Atrium Hotel is a simple three-star hotel in a nicely renovated building, in a quiet part of downtown Lourdes. The Sanctuary and Castle are just a few minutes’ walk away.

The room was tiny, with no room to open a bag, and there was no fridge. The bathroom was so cramped I had to sit sideways on the toilet. The curtains also need fixing so they don’t block the air conditioning. Apart from those issues, it’s a great hotel.

We stayed at Atrium hotel in Lourdes two weeks ago with a group of Swiss pilgrims of Croatian origin. I’m a TL with 30 years of experience. The staff, including the Portugese guy at reception and the waitresses, were all very friendly and quick with service. I recommend the hotel wholeheartedly. It’s beside the cemetery in a quiet part of town, and the basilicas are about a 10-minute walk away. You don’t need to take the stairs down the hill. There’s a public elevator nearby: turn right twice as you leave the hotel. Ask reception for detailed directions, and a staff member may even show you the first time. The rooms are decent and efficient. Ask for one with a small balcony. We had full board and enjoyed the tasty three-course lunches and dinners. The dishes changed each time, without a single recipe repeated. Breakfast is self-service, with cold cuts, bread, yogurt, fruit salad, butter, jams, honey, fresh croissants, tea, and coffee. If you don’t like the machine coffee, the hotel bar can make you a proper espresso. If you’re out late after the evening pricession, remember the main entrance is locked at midnight. You can use the side door with the code printed on your room key chain, so there’s no need to ring and wake the staff.
