Hôtel Océan

A lovely little hotel with everything you need for a short Lourdes stay. The people were so sweet and attentive, especially the woman at reception, and made sure we had what we needed to feel comfortable. They even lent us an umbrella in the pouring rain. We also got recommendations for places to eat, things to visit, and how to reach the airport. Highly recommend!!!

We hadn't planned on Lourdes, since we'd meant to go to pic du midi, but plans changed. The lovely receptionist helped us see and do everything people come here for. The hotel offers a continental buffet breakfast with a good mix of sweet and savoury food. It's close to the train station and an easy walk from the main attractions. Even on the main road it was clean and quiet, thanks to the soundproof windows. We were glad they had extra blankets. I always get cold at night, and one helped me sleep well.

Hotel Ocean felt like a real family business. I saw the family taking care of everything, from cleaning rooms and corridors to helping guests from check-in through check-out. Everyone was welcoming, and the lady who took my keys at checkout gave me a warm smile that brightened my day. For about €33 for a single room, it was excellent value, especially for a pilgrim looking for reasonable accommodation. I actually think they could charge more, given how good the service is and how much pricier nearby hotels are. My room, number 108, was very clean and just right for me travelling solo. It had a balcony where I could open the door for fresh air, and a great view of the mountains and the ibis hotel across the street. The WiFi worked very well, the shower had amazing water pressure, and the security felt impeccable. Only guests get the entry code, so you have to ring the buzzer when you first arrive. I booked a month ahead. Pascale communicated very well by email, replying promptly and answering all my questions. You first have to book through the hotel's website, then Pascale gets back to you. I don't speak French, but he really tried to communicate in English. Check-in is at 2pm because the family cleans the whole hotel before guests come in. It's about a five-minute walk from Gare de Lourdes Train Station. I'd rate the stay 5 out of 5. Thanks to Pascale and family for a lovely time.

The staff were amazing and helped me out despite my limited French. The room was small, but clean, and really all I needed for sleeping and getting ready to see what Lourdes has to offer. A very nice hotel. Thanks, I'll recommend it to my friends!
