Hotel Christ Roi

The location is a plus, just a five-minute walk from the sanctuary area. The staff were polite and helpful, and the rooms were clean, though the bathroom was a little dated. Breakfast was very simple, just two baguettes and not much choice. Still, it was very good value for the price.

The location near the sanctuary was the one good point. Breakfast was poor too: much of the food had run out, the staff didn't refill it regularly, there was little to choose from, and what remained didn't look appealing. My room hadn't been cleaned properly. There were bed bugs on the bed and an insect on the carpet, and neither the sheets and pillows nor the bathroom seemed fresh or clean. I could constantly hear the elevator from the room. The TV wasn't plugged in when I arrived, so I had to move furniture to get it working. A big disappointment. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The room had some useful touches: extra bedding, a working heater, blackout blinds, bathroom handrails and sockets beside the bed. The location was fairly close to the sanctuary, and breakfast was okay if you aren't expecting a continental buffet. That said, this definitely isn't a four-star hotel. Our room was very old, smelled mouldy, and had creaky beds and thin walls. We could hear people talking in the corridor, and our room near the lift let us hear it running. There was no kettle for making tea after a long day. Although the shower looked clean, hairs from previous guests were stuck to the wall. The only soap was from a dispenser, with no shampoo, conditioner or shower gel. A bidet made the bathroom unnecessarily cramped. Also, the toilet is separate from the bathroom and sink, so you have to open its door with unwashed hands before you can wash them. Disgusting. This is more like a bed and breakfast, or two stars at most.

I was extremely disappointed. The room condition and the service were both bad, and nothing about staying here was good. It was the worst hotel stay I've had.
