Hôtel Sainte Marie

Breakfast was simple but had all the essentials, and the front rooms look out over the sanctuary, where you can watch the procession. We felt as if we were staying with family, thanks to the serene atmosphere and the very friendly, helpful staff. The river in front can roar pretty loudly. Keeping the balcony door shut and turning on the air conditioning helped; you can also open the bathroom window for fresh air.

Madame Christine is what makes this place special. She remembers guests' names and does everything she can to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The rooms are tidy and comfortable, with no frills, and our family of three slept well. The hotel provided a travel cot for our toddler, and the air conditioning worked great. You're right by the bridge toward the grotto, basilica, and other major Catholic sites, so the location is ideal for a Lourdes visit. We'd gladly return. Merci, Christine and staff!

The hotel is wonderful for visiting the sanctuary: it's very close, clean, accessible for people with mobility issues, and the staff are courteous. I'd happily recommend staying here. We paid €21 per person for the dinner buffet, but there wasn't a buffet. Since there weren't many guests, they served a plated meal instead, with a choice of veal or fish, neither of which we would have picked. We also didn't enjoy the sides. For that price, it wasn't worth it. Skip the buffet.

We'd definitely stay here again if we're back in Lourdes. Christine, the owner, is incredibly sweet and really tries to make sure you have a good time. The hotel is clean and quiet, and the beds are on the firm side. Even though it's so near the sanctuary, it was peaceful. Some nearby areas with restaurants and souvenir shops can be noisy. The river view is beautiful, and the location is excellent, just across the bridge from the Sanctuary of Lourdes. Breakfast was nice too, with croissants, cheese, meat, jams, yogurt, and good coffee.
