The last night was the worst part: there wasn’t any hot water when we got back from work or the next morning. Cold washing in early June might be fine camping, but not at what this cottage costs. We booked it for a three-night work trip with colleagues, and the whole stay was a disaster. The place felt 30 years out of date, with no oven or even a coffee machine. The amenities felt more like a construction site shelter, while the rate was outrageous. We might as well have stayed at a Formula 1 hotel by the motorway. I even wonder if the owner has ever slept there. There are much better and cheaper places around. I won’t make this mistake again. Avoid this place like the plague.

There was no security and we couldn’t reach the hosts at all. In broad daylight, a suspicious person was hanging around my car. Inside, the apartment was in a deplorable state, with no cleaning, an unbearable smell, and toilets clogged with excrement. There was no oven, and the hot water couldn’t be used. The pool was filthy too, with dead insects and dog feces floating in it. The place is dirty and poorly managed, and could be dangerous. Avoid it at all costs.

The pool was a welcome way to cool down and relax after sightseeing, and we could also walk through the hillside forest up to the plateau for panoramic views over the countryside and the Loire River. We rented the whole gîte for a family getaway, which worked well for our large group since few places nearby can host that many people. The owners’ response made a bad stay even more unacceptable. We couldn’t get hold of them when problems came up, and when they did pick up, they hung up without explanation or a solution. Management felt completely absent, with no regard for guests. The positive reviews online don’t reflect what we experienced. When we arrived, the previous tenants had just left and the accommodation hadn’t been cleaned. Belongings were scattered around, the toilet was clogged, and the smell was unbearable. There was no oven or coffee maker, and no hot water. The pool was neglected, with dirty water, dead insects, and animal excrement. A suspicious person repeatedly tried to break into our vehicle in broad daylight. I strongly advise against staying here. The property seems more focused on its online reputation than guest comfort or safety. Better maintained places are available nearby, often for a more reasonable price.
