The hosts were so welcoming and gave us excellent hiking advice. This little hotel is right in the center, which makes it a great base for a night or a few. I highly recommend it.

My only gripe was that the bed wasn't very comfortable. The room itself was very clean and well equipped, with a beautiful view from the window, and everything from check-in through breakfast went smoothly. Breakfast featured regional, high-quality food: homemade yogurt, delicious bread, sweet spreads, croissants, coffee, and eggs. The host was friendly and helpful, with great suggestions for things to do in town, including a walk around St. Marie Castle and a short visit to the Chapelle de Solferino, both with stunning views. Hotel Des Cimes felt cozy and welcoming, right in the heart of the small town, opposite the Church of the Templars. It's perfectly placed for excursions and hikes. I highly recommend Hotel des Cimes.

The two Australian reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the location in Luz was excellent. But the room was ridiculously small, with one side of the bed against the wall and less than a meter of space on the other. There was no window, just two skylights about two meters off the floor. One was stuck and wouldn't open. Storage was basically nonexistent. There were two planks for shelves, one taken up by a duvet and the other by a fan, because the room was hot. The bathroom and bedroom were divided by a gray accordion-style plastic screen that wouldn't close. There was nowhere to put things except a roughly 40x60cm desk, like a bargain Ikea one. The spring mattress wobbled whenever I moved. The bedding was a sheet and a brownish blanket, like the kind they stopped making at least 30 years ago. The TV was A4-sized. Soundproofing was nonexistent, so you could hear every conversation from groups returning at midnight and talking on the landing before going to their rooms. In short, it was below youth hostel standard, where there are usually windows, for the price of a real hotel, €80 a night.

The reception was efficient, and the room was clean and functional. Double glazing kept out the street noise, and the common room was handy for meals. The big issue was noise between floors. In this old building, the wooden floorboards creak whenever anyone upstairs moves. Our upstairs guests were especially loud, moving furniture and then walking around almost constantly for over two hours. In the end, we left at 11:30 pm because we couldn't fall asleep.

We slept well at the Hôtel des Cimes for our one-night stay, even with the other guests making noise. We had to leave early the next day, so we couldn't have breakfast there. We left our son's cuddly toy behind, and they kindly offered to mail it to our home. Thanks for a pleasant stay. See you soon.
