Campanile Val de France

We were a school group of 45 and arrived before check-in, but the staff got us into our rooms quickly after a long journey. The rooms were very clean, the food was great, and everyone we dealt with was helpful and polite. The location was perfect for the Disney Parks. The shuttle was the one drawback. It only came once an hour and was always full, so getting all 45 of us aboard was extremely difficult. That isn’t directly the hotel’s fault, but it would be useful for them to flag this, especially since they often host large groups. We’d definitely stay again.

The free transfer to the park takes around 15 minutes, and we loved the farm park. Staff were friendly, and our stay was great overall. The main difficulty was my daughter’s egg allergy. The restaurant staff knew about allergens and tried to help, but she had very little choice. On the one evening she ate there with us, the only children’s menu option she could have was a plain beef patty without a bun and broccoli. The fries share a fryer with the nuggets, so they may contain traces of egg. The lounge bar handled allergy questions poorly. Instead of giving information about which dishes contained eggs across the menu, they asked us to name what we wanted and said they’d check. That made us feel awkward and put us off eating there, even though the food looked good. We’d come back, but bring food for my daughter or eat in Disney.

The little farm is a lovely extra for children, and the hotel has a great location with nice staff. Our room was clean and pleasant, though the bathroom looked old and worn, which is why I’d give the room only three stars. The elevators were fast and reliable. There’s free luggage storage before check-in and after check-out, and the shuttle waiting area has a roof, a welcome feature in the rain.

The rooms were clean, staff were friendly, and the price was fairly low. It’s about a 10 minute drive to the Disney parks and a 10 minute walk to a supermarket. But sound carries straight through from adjacent rooms. We could hear conversations, and doors closing nearby woke us up, so a good night’s sleep seems unlikely. Breakfast was terrible for us. If you’re English, you probably won’t enjoy it, though French guests might. We skipped it on two of our four days. The free shuttle shared by the hotels along the road is okay outside busy periods, but mornings are a struggle and you might have to wait for the third or fourth bus. After the fireworks or light show, especially after 11 p.m., do not take it. It was chaos, and children were being trampled as people crowded aboard. I had to shout for people to stop when a child fell underfoot. The mother had lost sight of her child in the crush, but they were safe afterward. A taxi costs 20 to 30 euros. I’m not being dramatic, I honestly want people to know. I wouldn’t recommend staying here in peak season, though it might be better outside those times.
