Explorers Hotel

For a family-focused three-star hotel, cleanliness was solid throughout our stay. Check-in and check-out went smoothly, and the luggage room was especially handy for squeezing in one last park visit after checkout. Early check-in is available for a fee, which can help families arriving ahead of time. Staff were efficient and helpful, and the practical setup felt suited to parents travelling with children. Kids have plenty to do here: there’s a free shuttle to Disneyland Paris, a cinema, arcades, indoor and outdoor play areas, and three restaurants. Adults also have a bar and lounge. The rooms are a little dated, but spacious and good value. Family rooms work well for larger groups, with two bedrooms, two bunk beds, and room for up to five children. La Vallée Village outlet shopping is around 10 minutes away. 4 / 5 stars. A practical, budget-conscious base for Disneyland Paris, with useful space, convenience and entertainment for children. It’s not luxury, but it works well for family trips.

The welcome was friendly and the service lovely, and the beds were comfortable. But it was a loud, lively hotel, with people passing noisily at all hours. The noise carried on until about 2 a.m., so I barely slept. At checkout, the assistants were grumpy. There was a dead insect on the wall and no soap in the bathroom. Breakfast was awful, with fruit that had gone off and very little choice, though I suppose it was okay for something included with the room.

The children liked the pool and the soft play is a good idea. It was also useful having a separate room for them, though the hotel tried to move us to a different room despite our specific request. The shuttle buses to the parks were always packed; even doubling their number probably wouldn’t stop the crowding. The rooms felt tired, there was no air conditioning, and 35° heat made that pretty miserable. Cleaning standards seemed questionable too, as we found an old fake nail in our room. The pool was so crowded that it felt unsafe. I don’t understand the high prices. If we visit the parks again, I’ll probably choose somewhere else.

The kids had a great time with the entertainment and play areas, and the staff were always ready to help. There were good food options too. Our room didn’t have air conditioning, which was probably the only real downside. The shuttle service was good, but it could run more often or have more buses.
