There were plenty of nearby cafes, bars, and shops for food and things to do. My room had its own street entrance, which gave me some privacy, and both the TV and bathroom worked well. It was clean, with daily cleaning, and the host had noted my request for a lower-floor room before I arrived. Getting to the nearest subway took at least 10 minutes, and buses nearby ran irregularly. Still, I was satisfied overall.

The owner and staff were courteous, helpful, and friendly, and the place has an old Paris feel. It’s a modest family-run hotel. Metro, RER, La Poste, and restaurants are all an easy walk away. The free Wi-Fi was great in the lobby, though slower in my room on the top, third floor. There’s no elevator, but that didn’t bother me.

The only real plus is the metro station, about a five-minute walk away. Otherwise, the place badly needs renovation. The bed, shower, and staircase are all extremely small, and everything seems designed for Chinese people.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be breathing in mold for the next couple of nights. There’s no air conditioning, but that shouldn’t be an issue since the nights are reasonably cool and you could leave a window open. We didn’t feel safe doing that, though. Someone could just walk in, so we chose to sweat it out. We’re from the US, and nobody here speaks English. If you don’t know some French, you’ll be lost.
