The food and the setting outside seemed promising, but rain meant the terrace was closed. We had to eat indoors in a cold, charmless room, and it completely killed the atmosphere. The service was the real problem. Two young servers were arrogant and dismissive, and acted confused whenever we asked for anything, as though we were a nuisance. It didn’t come across as inexperience, just a lack of professionalism and respect. Some of the worst service I’ve ever experienced. The exception was a man in his 50s with a slight Italian accent. He was kind, smiling, and professional, and the only person who made us feel welcome.

The views and location are beautiful, and the WiFi worked reasonably well. Breakfast was good quality with a great selection. The staff at arrival and checkout were helpful, though some others were blunt or rude, especially when guests were having problems. I was in room 31, which staff call the “hobbit hole.” I’m about 2 metres tall, and the doorway was only about 1.6 metres high. I hit my head several times because there was no warning about the low door. It’s dangerous. The room was tired, and the air conditioning heater was either very hot or not working. There weren’t enough blankets, so the heater was the only option. There’s no decaf coffee anywhere in the hotel. If you stay, I’d recommend refusing room 31 unless you’re under 1.6 metres. Also, some guests make noise outside quite late and don’t seem to care about the people around them.

The staff made this stay especially lovely. We were travelling with a one-year-old and expected some challenges, but everyone, from reception to the pool bar attendant, went out of their way to make us feel welcome and cared for. We felt really special throughout our visit. The room was spacious, the pool refreshing, and breakfast and dinner were both excellent. The architecture blends old and new beautifully, with thoughtful touches in the Provence-style landscaping. The location was ideal, about a 20-minute drive from Aix-en-Provence, with Château Bas nearby and a lovely golf course for anyone interested. We’ll absolutely consider returning next summer. What a memorable stay. ✨

The new building had rooms of a decent size, but the layout was far from practical. There wasn’t a washbasin in the toilet, and the toilet paper was the cheapest available. The evening menu was very limited, and the food didn’t meet expectations for a hotel at this price. Service was appalling, though that was down to there not being enough staff, not the staff themselves. Would I stay again? No way.

We stayed at the hotel a couple of weeks ago after a friend recommended it, and it turned out to be a great choice. The surroundings are gorgeous and really picturesque, the food was delicious, and the staff were extremely helpful. I’ll be recommending it to friends and family 👌🏻
