Le Chissioua

The place itself was pretty and pleasant, and the pool was a highlight: shaded, comfortable, and with a shower. But when we were resting beside it the next morning, we were made to feel we were disturbing the peace and had to leave. There are probably better value and more enjoyable options out there. Our room had a lovely sea view and was well located and quiet, but it wasn't worth the price. There were no towels when we arrived, the shower spilled water into the room, the bed was uncomfortable, and the air conditioning was running while all the windows were open. Lunch and the night were only average, as was the following morning. The food tasted good, though the appetizers and some main dishes were small. Half the menu wasn't available, and after we ordered a drink, we were told it wasn't chilled and we'd have to wait for it to cool. For the portions, I found it too expensive.

The restaurant was delicious, and we were welcomed so warmly. The views of the sea and sunsets are beautiful, and there’s a pool and a lovely little beach. It’s peaceful and wonderful for switching off. I’d happily do it again.

The fresh juice cocktails were very good, and we found a lovely setting for lunch. The menu was simple, and they don't serve alcohol, which is understandable in Mayotte. We ordered €43 set menus with a starter, main, and dessert. Instead, we were served salads with two samosas on one plate and a slice of leek tart on another. When we raised it with the waitress, she seemed surprised and went to the kitchen. Her husband, who was apparently the chef, then came over and spoke to us in a haughty, aggressive way, with plenty of insinuation. The exchange got heated, and he didn't add anything to our plates. Fifteen minutes later, he came back to say he couldn't serve us our food. Since then, other friends have told us they had similar experiences. The portions are too small, which is a shame given the beautiful location and setting. I think they could improve by being open to feedback from customers. Just to be clear, we live here. We'd come back with friends and family if we found a nice place where the food was good and the portions generous.

I paid €1320 for 5 bungalows, and the cancellation deadline had passed. I was still coming to enjoy the stay with my friends. Then, on arrival, the manager smirked and told me she'd rented out 3 of my 5 bungalows again. No warning, no solution offered, just that. The conversation with her husband turned into a bizarre little performance, with incoherent talk, no logic, and them trying to make me look like the villain. The grand finale was them cancelling MY reservation, the one I'd paid for, and calling me "dishonest." If you want a phantom booking, the same room sold twice, or an escape room with nowhere to sleep, this is your place. Otherwise, run away 😌
