I usually only leave ratings when I've had a good experience, but our stay here was awful, especially because of a trainer at the hotel, so I feel I have to say something. The facilities are nice, but the pool area wasn't looked after. It was covered in old leaves and bird droppings, nothing like the pictures, and we had to clean the loungers every time before using them. There was sand in the pool too, and we didn't swim because we weren't confident it was being cleaned properly. The carpets in the rooms urgently need a deep clean. Dinner had a nice atmosphere, though the food was disappointing. My boyfriend and I love food and expected more for the price. One waiter was great and made us laugh every time. The bathroom by reception should have been closed for repairs. When we went in, two reception trainees were painting the floors and walls white, and paint got on my clothes. I felt sorry for them, working on the floor in their reception uniforms. The gym has only three machines, one of which wasn't working properly. The weights are filled with sand, and some were leaking it. One afternoon I went in to warm up on the bike before doing other exercises in the garden. A trainer was there with two other guests and said we couldn't use the gym for 40 minutes because she had a private session. She said she wouldn't be using the bike, but still wouldn't let us in. The garden has a large area. We went to reception because the website doesn't say the gym might be closed. The trainer followed us and got very agitated. She even grabbed my boyfriend's arm to stop him, then ran ahead so she could speak to reception first. When we got there, we asked her to let us talk, in English. She was standing very close to my boyfriend, so he asked her to give him some space. Then she started yelling at the reception staff in front of many people. After she left, a receptionist told us it was normal for the gym to be booked and that this happened in all hotels around the world. Eventually the receptionist said we could use it, but by then we felt so uncomfortable that we waited by the pool for an hour until the gym was free. That delayed us, and then we had to rush to the Supermarkt to get food for the dog. We're still confused about how the trainer could yell in the hotel lobby in front of guests and grab someone's arm, and nobody at reception seemed to care that this happened to us. In the photo, you can see I only wanted to use the bike in one corner of the gym. The rowing machine was broken and couldn't be used. The website calls it a fully equipped gym, which is far from true.

The food was only okay, especially with so many good places to eat nearby. Still, the hotel handled a problem with my room by arranging an alternative and sorting things out. The room was comfortable, breakfast was lovely, and the cocktails were great. The staff, service and spa were all lovely too. I’d recommend the sauna and massages.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Casarose. The hotel was very welcoming to our dog, and our room was great. We also really enjoyed the food, breakfast and the tasty cocktails and wine. The location made it easy to get to the river park, beach and marina.

There was plenty to do in the lobby, including things for kids, and we could ask for pool towels whenever we needed them. The pool was always clean, and the staff were kind and ready to help. Our room had everything we needed and was fantastic. The hotel itself looks amazing and has its own unique style. I had a mesmerizing stay.

I ended up adding 2-3 solo days here after my original plan to stay in Nice with friends, and I wish I’d chosen this hotel from the start. There’s a handy riverside walk from the pool area to the beach, plus restaurants nearby. I also found the sign visible from the bus stop useful after taking a bus from the rail station in Cannes, even if it seemed meant for drivers. My room was clean, the staff friendly, and the food and drinks good. I’d like to return and try more of the services and amenities. The carpets were my one gripe. They seem an odd choice and make me wonder what gets caught in the pile.
