Brit Hotel Confort Manosque Cadarache

I’d booked at the Brit hotel next door, which shares its reception with the restaurant, and asked for a table for four when I checked in. We came back at opening time with my wife and our kids, aged 4 and 6. The youngest loved the mini-pizza followed by citron ice cream. My wife and older child enjoyed spaghetti bolognese and crème brulet, and I had the house pizza Senzo, moelleux and citronellacake. The food was marvellous, the place was clean, and our waiter was very nice and did his best. He kept his mask on the whole time. I ordered rosé with dinner; it was nice, and they brought extra ice cubes to chill the drinks. Lovely people and atmosphere, good food, and fair prices. I may not have the dessert names quite right, but you’ll know what I mean when you see the menu.

There was no one to contact on our last day. We had no fresh towels or room service, and the restaurant was closed, though a nearby restaurant kindly gave us ice for our drinks. The pool was listed as “broken” and seemed to have been out of use for months. Our first night was very noisy because of roadworks, which wasn’t the hotel’s fault. Maybe the staff had forgotten us because we were the only guests, but all the TVs in the restaurant had been left on. It felt a bit like the Mary Celest. I even had to turn away three groups looking for the restaurant and explain that everything was closed because it was Sunday. Ho hum.

Our room was clean and check-in went fine when we arrived in the evening, but the stay turned sour. As vaccinated Americans, we had COVID-19 vaccination cards without QR codes, and ours were treated as invalid. The boss personally treated us very badly, and the staff were just as incompetent. We had no problems in Nice, Monaco or Cannes. BritHotel, this bad review is on you. We won’t be back.

The place was reasonably clean, but breakfast at 10 euros wasn’t worth the money. We were on the ground floor, and a noisy family above us woke us in the middle of the night. Good luck getting any sleep down there.
