Le Provence

I'm rewriting this review on 06/09/2019. I reviewed it in 2016, 2017, and 2018, and my rating has fallen from 5 stars in 2016 to a poor 2 in 2019. I used to like Le Provence after staying at several hotels in Manosque, but for us it went from very good in 2016, to good in 2018, to poor in 2019. We're skipping a 2020 reservation and going back to the IBIS, 500 meter further away, for its good breakfast, bar, and friendly staff. A new IBIS Budget is also available for the same price or less. The hotel is nice and typically Provencal, old on the outside but clean inside. The restaurant food is OK, though the choices and portions have dwindled each year. The profiterolles had 2 balls of ice cream in 2017, then 1 in 2018 for the same price, and by 2019 they were gone from the menu. That was the ONLY decent dessert! The delicious fish soup and nice big entrecote, shown in a 2017 picture, disappeared too. Steak now means one small 200 grams portion, with no other choice. Nearby Flunch is cheaper, and Courtepaille has bigger portions. The restaurant was a little worse in 2018 than 2017, and a lot worse in 2019. I've been asking for years to improve breakfast with a slice of gouda and ordinary sliced bread. Camenbert is always available, but not everyone eats it in the morning. Nobody seems to listen to criticism, or am I the only one who thinks so? This time we brought our own gouda from the nearby Super U, and our own bread too. Only a "baguette" is available, which people with no or bad teeth can't eat. Some nationalities simply do not SOAK their bread like some French do. The price increase was unexpected, and the staff friendliness also contributed to the lower rating. It was 45 euro via booking in 2016, 45 euro via Jérémy in 2017, and again 45 euro via Jérémy in 2018. In 2019 it was 60 euro, despite booking 1 year in advance in sep 2018. We paid 612 euro for 4 nights, 2 rooms, 4 persons, plus breakfast. My 5 star rating in 2016 was deserved, but now it's a low 2.

A good place for lunch or dinner. The dishes are fresh, tasty and good. There's a hotel and private parking, and it's not far from the highway.

The restaurant is spacious, cozy and nicely decorated. The food is good, and it's easy to get to with convenient parking.
