The hosts were so welcoming, and the gardens are lovely. It’s a charming, slightly quirky place and worked perfectly as a stop halfway from Calais to the Black Forest in Germany.

We had a lovely stay in adjoining rooms on the upper terrace, with a roomy sun deck. The rooms each have their own quirky touches and thoughtful design. Breakfast was generous and really tasty, and the plunge pool was a fun way to cool off. There’s plenty of garden to wander through in the evening, or you can sit and watch the ducks and geese. It’s tucked into a small village about 20 minutes from Laon, on a modest estate with a charming garden and connected gites. Highly recommended, and good value.

The peacocks and swimming pool were lovely, and the husband-and-wife hosts were super friendly. We stopped here on the way to Germany, about 2.5 hours from Calais. Our French was a bit of a test, and honestly, we failed it. The place is fabulous and quirky, though some parts of the rooms felt a little low and they were a tad hot. We loved it and will definitely come back.

The garden is a calm little oasis, with shady corners and sofas, places to eat breakfast or a delicious evening meal, and even a small indoor pool. There are trees, flowers, statues, sculptures, goldfish and a pond for the ducks, all among the different spots to sit and relax. Dédier&Beatrix have been creating it for over 20 years, turning what used to be pasture into a carefully landscaped garden. We booked at the last minute on our way back to Calais because it was too hot to camp. We felt genuinely welcome and left refreshed, grateful for their generosity, lovely food, and the atmosphere they’ve made.

Such an unusual, lovely stop. The rooms are all different, with beautiful attention to detail, and we had a big sun terrace where we ate our picnic dinner. They only serve food on Friday and Saturday. The gardens are pretty, with a pond full of geese and ducks and a mini farm garden. The indoor pool is small and closes at 6pm. Official check-in is 5pm, though the owners let us in early. Breakfast was huge and tasty. Thanks for a lovely stopover!
