Dinner and breakfast were especially lovely, with Liliane and Jacques for company. In the evening, chef Herman serves a gastronomic meal made with fresh ingredients, including some from his own garden. Nathalie has plenty of detailed information about the area and is happy to share tips. A few days here are made for slowing down: read, swim in the refreshing pool, go for a walk or bike ride. This place is well worth the trip!

The garden is spacious, with a lovely pond full of frogs, and the kids spent most of their time in the pool. We stayed a week at La Pastorale Gourmande, mainly to unwind and fit in a couple of outings whenever we felt like it. My wife and I had a luxurious air-conditioned room, a large en suite bathroom, and a very good breakfast included. Our four children, aged 14-21, and one of their friends stayed in the gîte. It had air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen with a cooktop, oven and microwave, a large shared bedroom, and a very large bathroom. You can order dinner at breakfast. Herman trained as a chef and makes delicious French and Belgian food. Herman and Nathalie are lovely hosts, and the accommodation is top notch. There’s lots to see nearby: the Ideal Palace of Facteur Cheval, the Gallo-Roman museum and excavations at Saint-Romain-en-Gal, and the abbey and church at Saint-Antoine-l’Abbaye. Grenoble, Lyon or even Marseille also make for a day out. We’d absolutely recommend staying here.

We had such a lovely stay. The food was delicious, the surroundings are peaceful, and the owners made us feel very welcome and helped with anything we needed. Our room was roomy and very clean. I loved this place!
