ibis budget Airport Marseille Provence

I couldn't sleep well because sound came through the gaps around the door and underneath it. I heard everyone in the hallway trying their locks, and early in the morning the cleaners were talking there. At one point they even knocked and tried my handle to get in, well before checkout. For late arrivals, some understanding about letting guests sleep in would have helped, especially with doors that let you hear everything. The cleaning team also needs better coordination about which rooms not to enter. I arrived late for an airport hotel and expected the 12-minute walk to be manageable, but the signs from Terminal 1 were poor at night. I couldn't see one for the hotel, followed Google Maps, and it took me almost an hour. The walking route isn't obvious from the road. The room interior was all right, but the door looked broken and had holes stuffed with paper. I think it was room 112, if I remember right. I was too tired to ask for another room, but it made me uncomfortable and almost felt like an emergency.

The friendly, supportive staff made the stay great. Breakfast starts at 4 a.m., which is handy if you're travelling early.

The restaurant was across the way at the opposite IBIS, and it was extremely good. I stayed the night before a morning flight, and being near the airport was a lifesaver. The free shuttle runs every 30 minutes, so getting there was smooth. My first room had a bathroom smell and a blockage, but the receptionist was extremely helpful and switched me straight away. The replacement room wasn't well maintained, though it was okay for just one night.

The hotel is beside wetlands, and you can reach them from just outside. Nice for a morning run, with storks, flamingos, and even a large muskrat spotted there. It's clean and convenient. Rooms are small but sensibly designed for an overnight stay, and the shower was nice. Breakfast was simple, with lovely fresh bread and croissants.
