Aux Bories de Marquay

We stayed for three nights in early July as four couples, and this was easily our best stay. Natalie and Eric went out of their way to make it comfortable and memorable. The rooms were clean, tidy, nicely furnished, and comfortable, with a lovely pool and hot tub. It's also conveniently close to central Sarlat, with good parking. We all loved it.

We shared a private dinner with the other guests and had warm conversations with our hosts, which made this family-run hotel feel like a real hidden gem. Eric and Natalie were also helpful with planning our days. The rooms were pristine, and the pool and jacuzzi area were lovely. A great mix of personal touches and comfort. Nathalie and Eric were such warm, capable, and dedicated hosts. When my husband had a medical emergency, they treated us like family: Eric called 112, drove us to the hospital, and helped with registration, while Nathalie looked after our 10 years old son all day, keeping him entertained and making him delicious pastas. We'll never be able to thank them enough. And Cookie is adorable, too. We travel a lot, and even five stars don't feel like enough. We hope to return and will certainly recommend it. The suite was spacious, stylish, spotless, and comfortable, with everything we needed and a lovely, large, clean bathroom. Breakfast was delicious. The charming property also made a great base for exploring Périgord. Sarlat-la-Caneda is about ten minutes away by car, and it's one of the prettiest little cities we've ever visited. Natalie had plenty of ideas for what to see and where to eat, so we didn't really need to plan ahead. Breakfast was a treat, with hot coffee or tea, pastries, jam, fruit, cold meats, cheeses, and dessert, most of it homemade by Natalie. Eric kept the Wi-Fi working in the rooms, though the place is so beautiful you might want to unplug. The guesthouse is quiet and peaceful, but you'll need a car to get around. Google Maps sent us toward a back dirt trail, so watch for the unmarked roads and reroute to the main roads. We had a wonderful three-night stay with our family and could easily have spent a week without seeing everything nearby. I'd recommend it to anyone.
