Adira Résid'Marseille Vieux-Port

The room was spacious, comfortable, and had a character of its own. Restaurants, shops, and the beautiful Vieux Port were all around a 5-10 minute walk away, and the fairly flat pavements made getting there really easy. It was a lovely place to stay with my family and the location was good. The toilet, though, was cramped, almost like an airplane bathroom. We also had to take the rubbish some distance from the building, which was inconvenient.

The apartment was clean, the location was great, and it was fairly quiet, which we appreciated with our baby. We stayed four nights and were able to request a baby crib. But the service was really poor. We weren’t sent the entry code and had a hard time reaching the host to get the door codes. We ran out of toilet paper and hand soap and asked for more, but were told to buy our own because this “wasn’t a hotel.” Supplies were very bare: just one garbage bag, empty body wash, and no laundry soap, which we had to buy ourselves. Also, the €85 cleaning fee doesn’t cover taking out the trash, so guests have to do that too.

The room wasn’t even finished, with dust and debris everywhere. We’d been promised the manager would contact us about it, but nobody did. Then the front door jammed and we couldn’t get in for two hours. We nearly fell through the trap door outside the hotel too. Getting to the room was a struggle from the start. The welcome was a closed door and no one around. After a lot of hassle, they sent a confusing email that directed us to the wrong room, and it took an escape-room kind of quest to finally get inside. The false advertising had already set us up for disappointment. Please have some respect for yourself and don’t give these people your money. Maybe then this torture will stop for all of us. Viva la France!

The location was perfect, with everything close by, and the apartment had what we needed for a longer stay. Service was okay. The room was clean and tidy, but the bed linens and towels were old, and some were stained, which made me wonder whether the cleaning crew really cleans and prepares the apartments properly. We also didn’t know when we booked that we’d be getting a sofa bed, since the website description didn’t say so. At the end of our stay, the host messaged me a list of things I could do to help the cleaning crew, like tidying everything and taking out the trash. That’s the host’s responsibility as part of the service, not something to put on guests. I hope they take this as a point to improve.
