The Vieux Port location is convenient, but the price, view and setting couldn’t make up for this stay. Reception is on the first floor, with no lift. They say the place isn’t wheelchair accessible, but don’t mention that you have to climb a full flight of stairs. Furniture was cheap and worn: a splinter from the desk tore a hole in my T-shirt, and one chair barely held together. The slippery bathtub felt dangerous. Because of a car accident I have limited back movement, and there were no handles or anti-skid seals. I slipped twice while trying to stand up. The drain plug wasn’t mechanical, so I had to lift it with a metal spoon. The glass panel was left ajar and didn’t stop water spilling everywhere, leaving a slippery pool. The toilet brush had no handle, and they never replaced it during my stay, even after I told reception. Street-cleaning vans hummed and honked to each other around 3/4AM. The soundproofing was terrible: the double glazing didn’t keep out the noise, and I could hear the neighbors showering. The desk area wasn’t really usable as a desk, and there were only two plugs, so I had to unplug lamps to use my laptop and charger. Cleaning on arrival was hit and miss. I have short hair, but long hair and dirt were caught in the bath drain. A motion sensor didn’t light the end of the corridor, so I had to walk halfway down to see the door lock, and the light switch didn’t work either. The minibar was ridiculously overpriced.
