Suite 4 was spacious and nicely equipped, with good appliances. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we felt safe and comfortable there. We cooked during our stay and used the hotel as a base for exploring the city, which worked perfectly. We don't speak French, and while we managed, there were a few communication hiccups. On day two, we noticed ants. Management dealt with them using pesticides by day four, and told us Marseille generally has ant problems. The Wi-Fi wasn't great either, and the wireless TV kept losing its signal, interrupting programs. Even so, we'd consider staying again.

Our room, Studio Number 1, was spacious and comfortable, but several details made the stay frustrating. The floor was sticky, and the bathroom next to the toilet had no towels or holder, even though there was a sink. The sink beside the shower wasn't properly built in, so anything set on it, like a toothbrush or glass, slid into the basin. Before arriving, I called to ask where we could park. The man on the phone said there was private parking about 100 meters from the hotel. When we got there, the cleaning lady, the only person on site and a very nice woman, said there was no private parking, only public parking, and gave us instructions. She couldn't speak English, despite the property listing English on Booking.com and other platforms. We had paid Maison d'Anthony an extra €100 for breakfast for two people over two nights, at the listed rate of €25 per night. There was no information in our room, the lobby, or the website about breakfast times, so we had to look them up ourselves on the Hotel C2 partner hotel's website. At C2, after eating, we were told to pay. It turned out the hotels weren't partners, and Maison d'Anthony couldn't provide or charge for that breakfast. The real price was €30, not €25, so I don't know how they came up with the listed rate. We had to pay again, then chase a refund ourselves. When I called Maison d'Anthony, I could barely get a sentence out before the person kept interrupting to ask if I had WhatsApp and tell me to send a message there. The call was unhelpful, and their WhatsApp reply, shown in a picture, called it a technical issue, which made no sense since they weren't allowed to offer the breakfast and had the wrong price. After a week and several requests, I finally got my money back. More than a week after our stay, the breakfast extra was still on their website, with the wrong price and no actual partnership with C2. The website also listed things that weren't in our studio: an outdoor dining area, when there were only windows and nowhere to eat outside; a bathtub, though there was only a shower; a safe; an oven; and a baking sheet. The photo for Studio Number 1 was wrong too. There was no bathroom window, and the sink looked different. It must have been a photo of another room.

Back for a second time, and we stayed two nights this visit. It was wonderful again: clean, cosy, welcoming, and equipped with all the comforts we needed to relax. We're already thinking about coming back.

I wasn't expecting to find such a quiet, clean place with such lovely decor and a wonderful location. The price was great too. I'm already hoping to return soon!

The location is amazing, and I liked the decor.
