Mercure Marseille Centre Vieux Port

We really liked the beds, the great shower, and how attentive the staff were. The breakfast buffet was incredible too. Catalans beach is a fabulous 30-minute walk away, and the location is fantastic. Highly recommend!

The bar made a nice place to relax in the evening, with a pleasant atmosphere and good drinks. Breakfast was another highlight, with lots of fresh choices and delicious pastries. Hôtel Mercure Centre Vieux-Port was a very pleasant stay for me. The room was clean, comfortable, and well equipped for winding down after a day exploring Marseille. The staff were exceptionally friendly and always ready to help with a smile. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

It takes about 10 minutes to reach the harbour and Vieux port: turn left as you leave the hotel, then left again, and you'll find the restaurants and bars. The hotel is clean and modern, and well placed for the port. A taxi ride to or from Marseille Airport takes around 30-40 minutes.

The reception service was the worst I've ever experienced. We'd never stayed here before with our family. On 24 August 2025, after checking out, we left our luggage and came back around 8:30 pm to collect it. The two women working that evening were rude and unhelpful when we asked them to arrange a taxi. They told us to book one ourselves. My daughter called the taxi company, but they only spoke French. We asked the receptionists several times to speak to the company for us because we couldn't understand much French. They kept refusing and asked if I could speak English, saying my daughter could talk to the company if I couldn't. We explained that English wasn't the issue, the taxi company only spoke French. They could hear the call we'd made right in front of them. When I asked their names, both said they had no names. I asked for the manager and whether I could speak to them, but was told the manager was unavailable, and they just handed me an envelope. Afterwards, they laughed and spoke badly about us behind our backs. We've travelled to many countries and places in France and never had service like this. Their behavior was utterly unacceptable. The room had a dirty floor, and the bathroom door scraped against the floor and wouldn't shut. We repeatedly asked for the sheets and covers to be changed, but they weren't changed until our last day. The hotel can barely be called three-star, let alone four-star. We were in room 406. I don't recommend staying here, and we definitely won't return.
