Le Petit Moulin

Edgar was a friendly, helpful host in the morning, and we had a great conversation over breakfast. We skipped dinner, though the hotel has a well-regarded restaurant. Our spacious, well-appointed room had an exceptional shower, and I was glad there was a kettle in it. On our velo tour of the Correzes beaux villages, we also appreciated the secure bicycle storage in a separate building about 100 meters away.

A magical lunch in a very cute town, sitting out on the street. The food, its presentation, and the taste were all amazing, and the whole experience felt perfect. You can pick from set menus or order a la carte. If you’re in the area, it’s a picture-perfect place for lunch, and the best meal we’d had in a while.

We had a delicious three-course meal, all beautifully presented and full of flavor. It was a level above most other restaurants in rural French towns. The goats cheese and apricot starter was lovely. We also had chicken on peas and lentils (?), beef with carrot sauce and gravy, served with a turnip (?), then strawberry cake and custard tart.

The location was amazing, the food outstanding, and the waitresses were really attentive. I would have given the place five stars, except our evening was spoiled by a rude sommelier. We said one of the white wines we’d ordered seemed oxidised, with half a glass left in the bottle from previous service. He replied rudely, “this wine has no problem, sir.” If he’d tried it, he would have noticed the obvious difference between the two glasses. It’s a great place with great food and lovely waitresses, but one person can ruin it all.
