The hotel made a good one-night stopover: it’s conveniently located above Lyon, there’s plenty of parking, and our room was clean and fairly spacious. The front desk staff member was friendly the whole time. We liked the cute vintage pieces collected from different places around the hotel. We skipped breakfast since it didn’t start until after 8 or 8:30 on the weekend. One note about the restaurant: it isn’t run by the hotel, and I’ve reviewed it separately. It was disappointing for us, so you might want to check out other nearby places to eat.

Our three-year-old grandson had a lovely time, and we felt at home throughout our stop, from the warm welcome to the friendly goodbye. The staff were helpful and kind, the quirky furnishings were a hit, and the facilities worked especially well for someone using a wheelchair. Thanks for a wonderful visit.

The free parking felt safe, with a fence and gate that close, and the place was quiet. Our rooms were clean and had air conditioning, though the unit blew straight at the bed, making it uncomfortable to leave on while lying down in the small room. Putting it above the entrance might work better. We’d hoped to rest on our Spain-to-Germany drive and have a good breakfast before day two. We got two rooms at a nice discount, but they were on different floors despite our request for them to be near each other in the reservation notes. The receptionist moved one when I asked, so we were on the same floor. Unfortunately, the replacement room had rock-hard mattresses, and my daughter said she didn’t sleep well. Breakfast was a letdown. There were four small-cut slices of ham arranged on one plate, three cheeses, two kinds of butter, bread, baguettes, and pastries, but no eggs. The orange juice was gone; when I asked, staff brought a basket of oranges and a small hand juicer. The coffee machine only gave hot water for instant coffee bags, with milk on the side. The tables outside in the garden were nice. I rated it 7 because of the AC placement, hard mattresses in the second room, and missing eggs and proper coffee, which drivers need to start the day.

The welcome was still very pleasant, but things felt like they’d slipped since our many earlier visits. We wondered whether management had changed, and whether there had been cost cutting. The rooms seemed less clean, the towels were thinner, and there was just one old tea sachet. The air con only blew lukewarm air; I told reception, but nothing was done. We still paid almost 200 EUR for two rooms. Disappointing, and it makes us unsure about coming back.
